At The Atlas Prep, we believe that quality education should be accessible to all, regardless of financial background. We strive to break down barriers to learning by offering affordable tutoring options that cater to diverse needs and budgets. Our commitment to inclusivity extends beyond affordability. We understand that individualized attention is key to academic success. That’s why we keep our class sizes small, ensuring that each student receives personalized guidance and support from our experienced tutors. We prioritize 1-on-1 tutoring sessions to ensure that each tutee can have the most productive experience possible. Our approach focuses on building strong foundations, identifying areas of improvement, and developing effective learning strategies tailored to individual learning styles, as well as rigorous and exemplary test preparation.

Regardless of your current skill level, we believe that our team of passionate and motivated tutors will be able to improve the academic performances and enthusiasm for learning of any student. We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and we’re dedicated to providing the support they need to succeed.

Shibao Huang (Skylar)

Co-Founder, MIT Class of 2030

Shibao, who goes by Skylar, is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School, where she took 13 AP courses and graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She was admitted into Stuyvesant with a score of 674 on the SHSAT, the highest in her borough, Queens. In her junior year, Skylar scored a 1560 on her SAT and has received all 5s on her APs including AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Spanish, AP Computer Science A and more. She currently majors in biomedical engineering and is eager to pursue the pre-med track, having done extensive shadowing during her years in high school as well as interning at Saint Nicholas Medical PC. She was Senior Assistant Captain of her school’s Math Team and a member of ARISTA (National Honor Society), Mu Alpha Theta (National Math Honor Society), and the Spanish National Honor Society. She also won 7th place at the Math Prize for Girls 2025 competition amongst 270 qualifiers worldwide. Outside of school, her favorite hobbies are crocheting and hiking. Inspired by her Burmese heritage, Skylar’s main goal for The Atlas Prep is to provide tutoring for Burmese refugees so they can gain confidence and skills to pursue opportunities with a strong academic foundation.

Vincent Lam

Co-Founder, Brown Class of 2030

Vincent Lam is a graduate from Stuyvesant High School, where he achieved a 4.0 GPA and 1560 SAT score. He scored a 673 on the SHSAT, and received all 5s on his APs, including AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP US History, and AP Computer Science A. He plans to pursue a concentration in mechanical engineering and hopes to go into industry. He was a member of Fission 310, the school’s robotics team, Stuyvesant Speech and Debate, ARISTA, and the Spanish Honor Society. Vincent loves to tutor computer science, physics, and English. Outside of school he loves to read, play basketball, and go on walks. Vincent’s main goal for Atlas Prep is to provide affordable and rigorous tutoring for students of any skill level, and for students to feel confident in their test taking abilities, both in class and in standardized settings.

FAQ

Do you provide in-person or virtual tutoring?

We currently provide virtual tutoring to maximize our scheduling flexibility and range of operations, but will be looking to expand into in-person centers in the future!

What are your tutoring hours?

We operate on a flexible timetable and wish to organize the best tutoring times for each student. Each session is scheduled on an individual basis.

Are your tutors qualified?

Yes, our tutors are highly qualified and rigorously selected. They have very strong academic backgrounds, but also a powerful passion for learning that they are eager to share.

What courses/test prep do you provide?

We provide a great range of courses, including AP tests, SAT, SHSAT, and specific subject classes. Much more can be found on our Courses page!

Do you provide price discounts for financial reasons?

Absolutely! We are willing to provide fee reductions for families that are financially disadvantaged. These discounts would be organized on an individual basis.

Can I apply to be a tutor?

We are always happy to invite qualified and motivated students to join our team. Selected applicants will go through a rigorous interview and Feel free to contact us if you are interested in a tutor position!
